Abstract

The present Pacific Islands Regional Office (PIRO) - NOAA project (2020-2022) aims to define guidelines and conservation recommendations to reduce the impact of lost and abandoned drifting Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) on sea turtles in the Pacific Ocean. The guidelines will identify means to reduce the interactions and mortalities associated with (i) entanglement in FADs structure, both, while active at sea and when lost or abandoned and with (ii) FAD stranding events in turtle ́s essential habitats.
