Side-setting is proven to be effective when used in combination with other measures in the waters of the North Pacific where it was developed. Its effectiveness has yet to be tested across other oceans, particularly in the southern hemisphere, where there is a higher diversity of seabirds with greater diving capabilities and more demanding sea conditions.
