Birdlife International (2013) Bycatch Mitigation Fact Sheet 7a (May 2013) Pelagic Longline: Streamer lines
Abstract
Streamer lines are the most commonly prescribed seabird bycatch mitigation measures for longline fisheries. However, recent evidence shows that they are not fully effective unless combined with other mitigation measures. To reduce bycatch to negligible levels they must be used in combination with branchline weighting
and night setting.
