Resolution on Reducing the Incidental Bycatch of Seabirds in Longline Fisheries
Description
The resolution sets out requirements regarding species identification and data collection and reporting.
In the area south of 25 degrees South latitude, longline vessels are required to use at least two of three listed seabird mitigation measures (night setting, bird-scaring lines, line weighting). Alternatively, hook-shielding devices may be used.
This Resolution shall enter into force on 1 July 2024. At this date it supersedes Resolution 12/06.
